PROVIDING SPACES TO PLAY FOR CHILDREN AFFECTED BY WILDFIRES IN AUSTRALIA

In January, Australia experienced its worst bushfire season to date.

With your help, children had safe spaces to play and process their experiences through this crisis.

Sarah*, 7, shared colourful drawings with our team, who are trained in working with children in crisis. With their support, she was able to process her experiences.

"The cat was down on the beach and his chair was on fire - the cat was scared."

"Then the fireman put out the fire and the rainbow came."

SUPPORTING CHILDREN IN LOCKDOWN

In March, the spread of coronavirus accelerated.

It was a stark reminder that we have to look after each other, no matter who or where we are.

Because we’re all going through this together.

Here in the UK, you helped over 10,000 children access learning packs, food vouchers and household items to help them get through this.

In June, thanks to your support, the COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Centre in the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, opened.

The centre provides life-saving care for people fighting coronavirus in the world's largest and most crowded refugee camp.

You helped us launch one of our biggest ever global responses; from building life-saving treatment centres, to training over 70,000 community health workers to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
